Local Mutual Self-Help Fellowship Information Service

April 2017 – Present

  • Pro Bono Web & IT Consultant (April 2017 – June 2017)
    • Brought in by a longtime member of the fellowship to provide knowledge on the cost to build and maintain a website for the local information service as well as feedback on what kind of content is better suited for a website versus print media, etc.
  • Web Coordinator (June 2017 – Present)
    • Service centers may employ special workers, so I joined on as a pro bono special worker to provide web and other IT services.

  • Acting Secretary (Intermittently between June 2020 – Present)
    • Recorded notes for Minutes when the Secretary was unavailable to attend the meeting or we had no one filling the position.
  • Acting Chairman (Intermittently between June 2020 – Dec. 2021)
    • Facilitated the bi-monthly business meetings when the Chairperson was unavailable to attend the meeting or we had no one filling the position.

    • In Addition to holding positions such as Chair, Web Coordinator, acting Secretary, etc.
    • Represented fellowship at Public Outreach events.
    • Maintained the physical copy of the meeting schedule post-COVID (to present)
    • Assist local groups with updating records with World Service Office when needed.
    • Event planning and purchasing for member events such as the annual Spring Fling Picnics and Holly Jolly Gatherings.
    • Created the “Your Lowcountry Intergroup” brochure highlighting how our Information service serves the fellowship in Beaufort County in 2019 and overhauled it in 2023.
    • Designed labels for all public outreach pamphlets our local Beaufort County fellowship handed out that directed prospective members to the local website, voicemail service and meetings.

  • Member of the Board of Directors (1 term)
    • Served as Secretary on the Board of Directors from March 2023 – March 2024
    • Served as Member-At-Large on the Board of Directors from March 2024 – March 2025
    • Provided alternatives to how Summer House conducted certain business based on my experience working for Island Club of Hilton Head, a mature, beach front condominium complex with similar needs.
    • Was the preferred Board Member to meet with vendors or contractors if our Board President was unavailable.
    • Pushed for the completion of the first phase of turf to be paid for and installed at the remaining 7 buildings which helped with drainage and restoring property curb appeal.
    • Participated in the vetting of the contractors to address our $500,000+ garage renovation project.
    • Resolved the lingering corridor light project with our new Association Manager that had been mismanaged by previous Board members & management.
    • Oversaw the migration of our website’s “owner’s portal” to the more secure AppFolio CMS that our management company utilized.
    • Overhauled our website into a simple landing page to suit our community’s needs.
    • Provided content and ideas for the growing Owner/Resident Handbook.
    • Offered alternative ideas for security and surveillance on the property that was more cost efficient than the previous system we had been utilizing.
    • Worked with our new Association Manager and our Maintenance Technician to eliminate the need for certain contracted work that could be accomplished by our team and the money saved be redirected to other projects and pay raises for our employees who were taking on the work.
    • Performed several parking checks with other Board Members leading up to the implementation of our new parking plan to try to address non-resident vehicles affecting our limited parking.
    • Supported the employee holiday bonus program.
    • Helped work on finding long-term drainage solutions for areas of the property that were below grade or prone to flooding during heavy rains or tropical storms / hurricanes.
    • Chose to not seek re-election despite lots of people encouraging me to do so. I will continue to provide service as a consultant to the Board when needed.
